You must upload a legible copy of your current registration for each set of plates. We cannot process your application without a copy of your current registration. Your application will be returned to you if you do not upload a copy of your registration.

Your registration must say “Private Pass” and must be a “01” plate type. Commercial, Combination, Suburban, or other similar plates do not qualify for the DSTRONG plate.

The $41.50 fee (per set) is required to order your plates. Credit Card or Check are acceptable.

If mailing your application, please mail to Dorian J. Murray Foundation, DStrong Plate, P.O. Box 1225, Westerly, RI 02891. Print, complete and mail this form, a copy of your current registration, and $41.50.

Make checks payable to DJMFoundation and list DStrong Plate in memo line.

For a set of two plates (front and back of vehicle) the cost is $41.50 and is distributed this way:

The Dorian J. Murray Foundations collects the money for the plate with payment made out to D-Strong Plate. $20 of the order will go to the Dorian J. Murray Foundation (#Dstrong) and will be used to help local RI children fighting cancer and pediatric cancer research explored in RI. $20 of the order will go to the state to make the plates, and $1.50 is added to each order as a technology surcharge for the DMV.

Yes. When you switch to the Dorian J. Murray Foundation plate, your current plate number is transferred to the new plate. Just think of it as ordering a new background design for your existing plate.

The license plate design will allow us to take applications for up to 5 digit plates. In order to qualify for a DSTRONG plate, you must obtain a 5-digit or less registration from the DMV.

To request a 5-digit plate, you will need to complete the TR-1 form. Bring the form along with your 6-digit plate to any Rhode Island DMV branch. The fee for a plate change is $21.50.

 

We can only issue plates that are currently ACTIVE. The Dorian J. Murray Foundation cannot grant anyone different plate numbers. Only the DMV can do that.

Presently only passenger vehicle plates qualify for the Dorian J. Murray Foundation plate.

Yes.  All subsequent two (2) year renewals of the DSTRONG plate will incur a $10 fee, all of which will be donated to the Dorian J. Murray Foundation. The DMV will issue a check to the Dorian J. Murray Foundation for the $10.00. 

DMV tells us that it should take 6 to 12 weeks to get your plates after the initial 900 plates are ordered and submitted. After we sell our first 900 plates, we will have a regular schedule with the DMV. Once your order is complete, you’ll be hearing from the Dorian J. Murray Foundation about when you can pick up your plates.

At the moment, no. Like the commercial plate, your plate type does not qualify.

You must already have a Rhode Island registered car in order to get a Dorian J. Murray Foundation plate.

No, by Rhode Island law, in order to receive your new Dorian J. Murray Foundation plates, the DMV must be given the two plates that are currently on your car. If you only have one plate to turn over to the DMV when you are picking up the Dorian J. Murray Foundation plate, in lieu of the plate you must have a police report for a stolen or missing plate.

Yes, plates must be picked up at the DMV. Once your order has been verified by them, the DMV will send you a notice when your plates will be available for pickup at the Cranston Office of the DMV. 

No, our role is to simply replace your existing plate with a new background that includes the Dorian J. Murray Foundation Design. If you’d like to change your current registration you must contact the DMV directly. Once you change your existing registration to the one you desire, then you can order a Dorian J. Murray Foundation plate provided that new plate is 5 digits or less.

We cannot process any applications without a valid registration. We need to be sure what you put on your application is accurate for the DMV. Without your registration, we run the risk of having your application denied because of various reasons.  Being accurate with your application is important to receiving your plates in a timely fashion.
